• Hello and welcome to the blogsite of Kasey D Weddings! A place where I will share my wedding advice, inspirations, resources, and tips and trends to South Florida Brides, along with news about my happenings, business, and life.

I believe the key to being a great wedding planner is to love what you do and to be truly passionate. It’s much more than creating lists, contacts, contracts and timelines. It’s being a confidant, friend, listener and guide during one of the most exciting and potentially stressful times of a woman’s life. No matter where you are in the wedding planning process Kasey D Weddings wants to ensure that you have the day of your dreams; an unforgettable day that is as unique as you and your true love.

“Backyard Glam” Inspirational Shoot Featured on Wedding Chicks

When Kat Braman Photography asked if Kasey D Weddings was interested in teaming up to create an inspirational photo shoot, I couldn’t have been more thrilled! I was given the privilege and freedom to create whatever my little heart desired, pick the theme, create unique pieces and work with some of the best vendors that South Florida has to offer. The shoot was truly a dream come true and it was just the icing on the cake that it was featured on THE WEDDING CHICKS. Please enjoy and watch the incredible video Cabana Pictures put together for us!

Inspiration:  We wanted to take the glamor and sophistication of a ballroom wedding and “marry” it with the fun and laid-back feel of a backyard, family affair to create, “Backyard Glam”.

Style:  We aimed to create the “Backyard Glam” look by infusing very high glam elements such as the crystal, fine linens, phalaenopsis orchids, ghost chairs etc. with “homey” family elements such as the handcrafted flowers, homemade pies, and hand woven yarn strands and accents.

Venue:  We chose a beautiful white home along the Intracoastal in Gulfstream, Florida. The private residence’s double lot allowed us the space to tell the entire story from the “getting ready” to the “first look” to the “first dance” and everything in-between. We wanted to inspire South Florida Bride’s to search out unique wedding locations knowing that they can create a glamorous look outside of the ballroom.

Ceremony & Photo Booth:  We chose a lush green hedge along the property for our altar and adorned it with sweet and unique handcrafted paper flowers along with a matching “I DO”.  We were fortunate to have a handsome little Ring Bearer and Flower Girl to boot. The Ceremony altar was then embellished with hundreds of hand woven yarn strands to create a fun loving Photo Booth backdrop. We think it’s great when you can re-purpose items and have them pop up later in an event and it’s always meaningful to watch guests have a blast at a photo booth with the altar piece as the backdrop.

Table: The design of the table was truly inspired by the “white vintage lace” linen by Nuage Designs. This linen has been available for sometime now yet we hadn’t had a chance to incorporate it into any of our designs and we had been dying to do so! The layering of the linens led to the intricate details of the ribbon-draped corners and crystal brooches, while the stunning floral design by Xquisite Events was what really took it up a notch. The place cards created by Salutations of Boca Raton were wrapped around the individual pies at each place setting to complete the look.

Pie Bar:  Candy, cupcakes… and now pie. We believe that a pie is a universal symbol for homemade, yummy goodness and the pie-pops are just downright fun!  The table was covered with a beautiful silver rosette linen and placed beneath a Banyan tree dripping in crystal strands to achieve the glam look we were going for.

This shoot was truly a dream come true. We had so much fun partnering up some of the finest vendors South Florida has to offer. From the paper cuts due to crafting the paper flowers to the breathtaking white rose covered letters, we hope to enthuse Brides to get with their family and friends to create their own personal touches and sprinkle them throughout their lavish and glamorous wedding décor.

I Heart Etsy: Pixel & Hank

Etsy is an amazing resource to find unbelievable talents and one of a kind pieces to make your wedding day truly unique and personal. Oh how I do love Etsy! I will forewarn you though, you have to be careful because you can get swept away for hours at a time browsing the pages to find that special piece (that you may not even have known you were looking for). I plan on helping South Florida Brides by sharing all of the magnificent Etsy creators I’ve come across while spending countless hours perusing the pages. To get things started, I’m honored and thrilled to introduce you all to Daisy, the owner and creator of all things Pixel & Hank. Daisy creates beautiful and whimsical head pieces, boutonnieres, bow ties, shoe clips and her new endeavor…garter belts. Swoon worthy, period.

Daisy had sent us some amazing Pixel & Hank pieces for a photo shoot (which I can’t wait to share with you) and she made it near impossible for us to choose which pieces to use. You may recognize one of these special little pieces when it makes an appearance on a later post down the road. A big shout out to Daisy and we look forward to many more collaborations to come!

Must Know Vendor: Kat Braman Photography

I plan on creating a series of posts entitled “Must Know Vendor” where I introduce and highlight South Florida Vendors that are in a league of their own; a master of their craft. I’m so excited and honored to share my very first “Must Know Vendor” with you, Kat Braman Photography! First off, I would like to let her work speak for itself….then we’ll get to know Kat with a little Q and A action.

Q: Okay Kat, tell us a little bit about yourself.

A: I am originally from the Czech Republic and I moved to the US when I was 10 years old with my family.  I grew up skiing in Breckenridge, Colorado and spent a lot of years doing nothing but that.   I met my husband at the University of Colorado and moved to Florida with him.  A few years back we took an amazing trip to Alaska.  I bought a DSLR and here we are today.

Q: I love that you and your Husband are fellow CU Buff Alumni! Why do you believe you became a photographer?

A: Because I have stories to tell and I can’t write, so I tell stories with my camera.

Q: How would you describe your signature style?

A: Authentic, Storytelling and Edgy.

Q: What are some of your most favorite shots?

Q: I love that you picked one of my engagement photos (f.y.i. it’s the last pic)! What do you find to be the most exciting wedding trend to capture?

A: So many more couples are creating weddings that are a reflection of their personalities.  I love to see people bucking the trends and doing their own thing.

Q: How would you describe your ideal couple?

A: Fun, happy and completely in love

Q: What are 5 words that your friends or family would use to best describe you?

A: Loud, Determined, Passionate, Eccentric, Loyal.

Q: Any advice you have for Brides in selecting a wedding photographer?

A: Pick someone whose style you truly love and connect with.  And then make sure you connect with them on a personal level as well.  You’ll spend more time with your photographer than anyone else on your wedding day.  It’s important that you like them.   An engagement session is a great way to get more comfortable with your photographer and each other in front of the camera, which will give you more relaxed and natural photos on your wedding day.  Before making a final decision, it’s a good idea to ask to see a complete wedding gallery so you can make sure the quality and style of their work is consistent throughout the wedding day.

Q: What is your favorite inspirational wedding blog and why?

A: Junebug Weddings.  They always feature the most incredible photography.

Speaking of Junebug Weddings…congratulations on making it on their “Best of the Best 2010 Wedding Photos of the Year” list! I’m so excited for you! Thank you so much Kat for sharing your beautiful work with us and letting us get to know you! I look forward to our many collaborations to come!
